Bengaluru, Mar 6: State Janata Dal (S) Chief and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday, March 6 declared that his party will not have any electoral alliance with any party in the ensuing elections in Karnataka.
“JD(S) is neither right nor left but straight,’’ he said while speaking to media persons in Kalaburgi on Sunday, March 6.
Kumaraswamy said the assembly elections could be held any time and even before May 2023, Karnataka should face elections. “We are ready to face elections whenever they are held and we will fight the election on our own,” he asserted.
The state JD(S) Chief said he has been striving to strengthen the party organisation continuously. “The organisational work slackened during the last two years on account of the Covid pandemic. The party will strengthen itself and prepare for elections without taking any respite,” he said.
Answering questions on the charge that JD(S) has a “soft-corner” towards ruling BJP in the state, he said: “My statements and actions show whether I have a soft corner or not with regard to BJP.’’
Kumaraswamy said the JD(S) will launch its “Janata Jaladhare- Ganga Rath Yatra” campaign for finding a permanent solution to Karnataka’s irrigations problems after the ensuing budget session of the State legislature.
The JD(S) leader said water from 53 places from the rivers, tributaries confluences and holy places will be collected during the ‘’Janata Jaladhare- Ganga Rath Yatra’’ campaign. It will be used to enlighten the people on the injustice done to Karnataka during the last 75 years with regard to irrigation projects and draw an action plan for solving the problems upon coming to power with river Ganga as witness.
Kumaraswamy said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who has served as the Irrigation Minister for 5 years, has done injustice by neglecting the irrigation sector in the State’s budget.
The ruling BJP and Congress parties have failed the people and are trying to fool them over Mekedatu project through their gimmicks, he said charging Bommai of raising false hopes by announcing drinking water from river Kali to five districts.
The JD(S) leader said the Chief Minister had promised to allocate Rs 5,000 crore for Upper Krishna Project and now another Rs 1,000 crore for Naville project, when they yet to get Central approval. These are mere paper announcements and nothing concrete, he said.
