Byndoor, Mar 7: A youth drowned in Someshwar beach in the taluk on Sunday March 6. The youth was having fun inside the sea when the tragedy occurred. The victim of this incident was Shashidhar (22), son of Manjunath Devadiga from Bavalady.

Along with four of his friends, Shashidhar had entered the sea between Someshwar and Dombe when he lost control over his body due to the force of waves. One of his friends rushed to Shashidhar's rescue and held onto him tight but could not bring his friend back to the beach. He shouted for help at which some locals used a rope to pull both of them back to the shore. But Shashidhar was found to be not alive by then.
