Mumbai, March 8: A Samaja Rathna Samman 2021-22 awards programme for social work was held at Maharashtra Rajbhavan, Malabar Hill here on March 7 under the aegis of Anyay Nivaran Nirmulana Seva Samithi and Goraksha Foundation.

Nearly 30 social workers including Tulu Kannadiga Ermal Harish Shetty were felicitated by state governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari with Samaja Ratna awards on the occasion. The award was conferred considering the social work of Ermal Harish Shetty during the critical period of Coronavirus.

Anyay Nirmulana Seva Samithi national president Rajabavu Sher, vice president Dr Pramod Pandey, convener Shailaja Malik and Kampere Neeta Bajpayee were present. The governor released the book titled ‘the lockdown stories’ written by GST joint commissioner Piush Shukla.

Ermal Harish Shetty hails from Udupi. He is a businessman and a social worker. He is the vice president of both Borivili educational project committee and BJP north Mumbai district.
