Mangaluru, Mar 8:  Police have booked three separate cases in connection with the Hijab-Saffron shawl clashes at P Dayananda Pai and the P Satish Pai Government First Grade College in city, said Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

"Two cases have been booked in Mangaluru North police station and one in CEN (Cyber, Economics, and Narcotics) police station," he said addressing a press meet in the police commissioner's office on Tuesday, March 8.

He also said that the first case was registered in North station under sections 323 and 504 of IPC. The officers are investigating further, he added.

It may be recalled that a few hijab-clad girls insisted that they should be allowed to appear for the internal examinations wearing hijab while some students opposed it on March 3. Later it resulted in a confrontation between two groups.

On the Facebook page which had posted derogatory and objectionable comments, Shashikumar said,  "The CID has taken up the Facebook Page case in which derogatory and objectionable comments against a faith were posted. The investigation is on."

He also informed that the city police had busted a prostitution racket in which minor girls were being used for sex trade. In connection with this case, police have registered 10 cases and arrested 14 people."There are few more accused in the case who are still at large, " he said.

Rowdy students who threatened the girls must be debarred from school and jailed. They acted like goondas and not students. Its strange that police becuase silent spectators while these goonda students threatened the girl students. They should be arrested under goonda act and debarred from state.

Of late male students of Mangalore involve themselves in everything else other than studies. I wonder if parental guidance and supervision is completely absent.
