New Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS) Delhi Police arrested the man who allegedly attacked former Orissa Chief Minister and Congress parliamentarian Hemananda Biswal here, police Saturday said.
Prabhat Kumar Sharma alias Swamy was arrested from South Avenue late Friday evening after he went there to meet some relative.
"Acting on a tip-off, he was arrested and is now being interrogated," an official told IANS.
Sharma allegedly attacked Biswal at the MP's official residence in September last year and tried to shoot him.
A police official said that during interrogation, Sharma said that though he pointed the gun at the MP, he never fired.
According to Biswal, he sacked Sharma, an ex-employee, for financial irregularities, and to take a revenge Sharma tried to shoot Biswal in his bathroom but the pistol did not work.
Police, however, had at that time expressed reservations about the allegations as the evidences were different from the story the MP narrated.
Biswal had also alleged that after the attack, Sharma escaped from a kitchen window, which police later said was too small for a man to escape through.
