Bengaluru, Mar 10: Veteran BJP leader and MLA, Basanagouda Patil, is frustrated as he has not been made a minister and his tall claims have fallen flat. He has been giving vent to his intolerance towards the party leaders inside the assembly session. His actions have been bringing awkward moments for the BJP government while the opposition is amused.
Right from the day the current assembly session began, Yatnal has been critical of the performances of ministers and has often been seen airing his grievances against individual ministers. He has not even spared any chance to sting chief minister, Basavaraj Bommai and former chief minister, B S Yediyurappa.
On Wednesday too Yatnal continued with his barbs. Seeing that only a few ministers were present when the assembly session began, he told the speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri that conducting the house in the absence of the ministers was meaningless and asked him to end the session early instead of continuing it till the 30th of this month.
When the speaker, during the question hour, expressed displeasure at the absence of several ministers, Yatnal intervened to say that the ministers who are expected to provide answers to questions are not properly attending the sessions. He asked such ministers to be sacked so that he and others like him can efficiently manage those positions. "People become ministers due to lobbying. But they do not participate in the proceedings of the house. /what is the use of such ministers?" he wondered aloud. The opposition leaders merrily pulled up the treasury benches on these issues and the BJP MLAs were forced to remain quiet.
