Udupi: Women’s Day Celebration at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Udupi, Mar 10: The Kasturba Hospital at Manipal, celebrated women’s day on 8th March 2022 in very unique manner by organising women’s tuck shops to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship in womanhood. More than 150 women employees from Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi and Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala participated with 37 stalls.

Aparna Muthana - fabric collage artist, Dr Shashikikala K Bhat- HoD, OBG, Dr T M A Pai Hospital, Udupi, Dr Anagha K Ballal- faculty at dept of clinical psychology & Prasanna Padmaraj- an entrepreneur jointly inaugurated the program and stalls by lighting the lamp.

On this ocassion Aparna Muthana said, Women’s day is celebrated to commemorate the social, political and economic achievements of women. Women can achieve anything today and as the theme for this year says, we should break the gender bias.

Dr Shashikala Bhat said that, I have seen a big shift in mind-set of the people. Nowadays, if a girl child is born everyone in the family enjoys it, whereas 25 years back, parents and family is to think the other way around. This is also the reason, why Udupi district has highest ratio than the national gender ratio.

In the stall Exhibition cum sale of home made, hand made articles, paintings, fashion jewelleries and varieties food items were there.

There was Mehendi competition also for the women. The blood donation camp was also organised, where many female employees came forward and donated the blood for the Kasturba hospital blood bank. Programme ended with Zumba event.
