Mangalore: Man Held for Sending Obscene SMS to Girl

Mangalore, Jan 18: A person, who had been sending indecent messages to a girl over mobile phone, and had later started making obscene calls to her, was arrested by the policemen of Pandeshwar police station here with the help of a dalit organization, on Sunday January 16.

The arrested person has been identified as Gopal alias Vasudev, working in a saw mill in Naguri here, who is a native of Devachalla in Sullia taluk.

Gopal, who somehow got access to the mobile number of the girl in question, had repeatedly been sending her nasty messages. Thereafter, he had begun to make her calls, using vulgar language. After the girl complained to Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, its officer bearer, S P Anand, complained to the Pandeshwar police.

As advised by the policemen, the girl asked the man to meet her at the service bus stand here on Sunday January 16. On his arrival there, he was taken into custody by the policemen.
