Mangaluru, Mar 15: Giving statement on the verdict of the high court (HC) on the Hijab controversy, Haji K S Mohammed Masood, president of Muslim Central Committee and former MLC, said, “We respect the verdict of HC with regards to the Hijab controversy. However, the argument that Hijab is not essential practice in Islam is not right. Hijab is very much mentioned in Holy Quran.”
He said, “Our women follow the procedure properly. High court argument is not right. We will approach Supreme Court in this regard. It was the principal of the college at Udupi who blew it out of proportion. Legal action should be taken against him. Investigation needs to be done. Let them bring uniform in school, we agree. But allow Muslim students to wear Hijab of the same colour as that of the uniform.
“We will definitely get justice in Supreme Court. God is great. We are confident of Supreme Court’s verdict on this matter. Our girl students should maintain peace as said in Islam,” he said.
