Mangalore, Jan 18: A young couple from Banakallu, Mudigere taluk of Chikmagalur district who got married at Hemavathi temple, near Javalli Kalasa of Moodigere taluk two months ago, knocked the door of Dalith Sangarsha Samithi’s office after the parents of both resented their decision and opposed the relationship.

Doubting that they are not of age, Dalith Sangarsh Samithi took them to SP Subrahmayeshwara Rao. When SP contacted the Banakal police station, he was told by police about a complaint of kidnap lodged by girl’s parents. But the couple denied the allegation. Later the couple requested the SP and the members of DSS to allow them to stay in city. They said they will continue their education by going to work during the day and attend evening college.
 
18-year-old Sindhu and Sharanraj of the same age, entered wedlock without revealing anyone. It is said that both were in love since high school days. The boy is studying in 1 year B.Com and the girl is in second year pre university college. Parents opposed the marriage as Sindhu’s family owns 200 acres of coffee plantation while Sharanraj’s family has only 10 acres of coffee plantation in Moodigere taluk.
 
The parents of both girl and boy came to DSS office to take them back on Tuesday January 18, but by that time they had made a strong decision not to go with them. They have already taken a rented house and got a job in a private company. They also showed their age proof certificate to the police.
