Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Jan 20: A Ford Ikon burst into flames when its driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road, hitting against a pile of stones and mud. The incident occured on the evening of Thursday January 20 near the Kadri-Kambala-Bejai junction.

However, the driver, suspected to be a doctor, escaped unhurt and no other injuries have been reported.

The concrete road is elevated on the sides, and when the driver lost control, the front and rear tyres of the vehicle slipped off the edge and the impact is said to have sparked off the fire which engulfed nearly the entire car. Luckily, the driver was able to get out in time.

Kadri fire officials arrived at the spot at around 7.45 pm but by then it was too late and the car was charred almost fully.

The owner of the car is yet to be identified.
