Mangaluru, Mar 23: World Water Day was organized today by SRISTICA and department of Civil Engineering, Srinivas University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mukka, Mangaluru.
Chief guest of the programme, renowned entrepreneur, Er B Govind Ramesh, managing director, Agrima Roof and Façade Systems, Bengaluru inaugurated World Water Day at Mukka.
Dr Thomas Pinto (dean, Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology) presided over the programme. Dr Ramakrishna Hegde (HoD, dept of Civil Engineering), Professor Shrinath Rao K (faculty coordinator, SRISTICA) and Delson D’Souza (president, SRISTICA) were present on the dais.
Dr Ramakrishna Hegde delivered welcome address and keynote address.
Professor K Shrinath Rao introduced the chief guest Er Govind Ramesh and has given an overview of projects completed by Agrima Roof and Façade Systems.
In his inaugural address, Er Govind Ramesh briefed the importance of Water and Save Water. He said that every student should have vision in his/her life, should be focused, should be enthusiastic, and should focus on the input side of the problem than the output. Er Govind Ramesh said that Civil Engineers have ample opportunities in Nation Building. Hence, Civil Engineering students should have positive attitude towards the Society with continuous learning, hard work and dedication. Er Govind Ramesh said that Water is not just Water, it is the gift of nature, and hence, being a Civil Engineering student, it is their prime duty to create awareness to use water effectively and efficiently and hence to Save Water and to Save Water Resources for the present and future generations.
In his Presidential Remarks, Dr Thomas Pinto said that water is available abundantly in Coastal Karnataka and Malenadu region, and people are doing the optimum utilisation of water. United Nations is celebrating World Water Day since 30 years. Around 25 percent of the population on the Earth is not having adequate fresh drinking water. Other than Earth, there is no planet where water is available. It is highly impossible to dream of living without water. Hence, it is our duty to Save Water for the survival of everyone and for the sustainable development and sustainable living on Earth.
Dr Praveen B M (director Research, Srinivas University), Dr Shreeprakash B (HoD, Mechanical Engg), Professor Sanjay S (Training & Placement Officer), Milan Karanth (office manager), Civil Engineering Faculty Members and Civil Engineering Students were present.
Final Year BTech Civil Engg student Prasad Devadiga performed invocation.
