Ajman, Jan 25: Chief guest of the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Supreme Council, UAE, and ruler of Ajman, awarded degree certificates to 66 Gulf Medical University (GMU) graduates at the seventh convocation ceremony held on Sunday January 23, 2011 at 6.30 pm at Al Zawraa Ball Room, Ajman Kempinski Hotel and Resort, Ajman.
The grand ceremony was also graced by distinguished guests like H E Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, chairman – Ruler’s Court, Ajman, UAE, H E Dr. Hanif Hassan, minister of health – UAE, and B Ahmed Haji Mohiudeen, chairman – BA Group, India, as the guest of honour, other distinguished guests representing government departments and embassies stationed in the UAE and abroad, as well as the members of BOG and academic council.
Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Gulf Medical University, presided over the ceremony in the presence of the provost, Prof Gita Ashok Raj, important guests, faculty, and parents of the medical students of Gulf Medical University. He congratulated the fraternity of health professionals of the 2011 batch of the Gulf Medical University graduates and assured them of the unwavering support at all times.
Prof Gita Ashok Raj, provost of Gulf Medical University, addressed the gathering by emphasizing on the importance of convocation. She added that convocation is a milestone in the life of every graduate, who, after years of hard work, is finally granted the degree. And as a graduate, it is also a day when they will be taking the oath of serving humanity and stepping into practice of the art of medicine and health care, to utilize their clinical competence to make a difference to the lives of people of whom they will be called upon to serve.
Currently, many GMU graduates are successfully serving far and wide both in UAE and outside the country especially in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the neighboring GCC countries.
Rhythm Bhalla and Manisha Khaira were declared as the best outgoing students from the MBBS and BPT streams respectively.
Gulf Medical University is recognized and approved as an institution for higher education by the ministry of higher education and scientific research, UAE. It is listed in the World Health Organization’s directory of medical schools and also listed in IMED directory.
