Kundapur, Mar 27: Four strangers attacked an RTI activist and threatened him with life on the night of Friday on the road near Vinayaka theatre in the city.

Sadashiva Kotegar (56), a resident of Kundeshwara Road is the person who sustained injuries in the attack. He was standing on the lane near Vinayaka Film talkies at around 7.45 pm on Friday, when four strangers attacked him with swords, wooden logs and iron rods and escaped from the spot. He is admitted to a private hospital in the city.

Sadashiva, who is an RTI activist, had sought information on more than 40 issues related to revenue, forest department and encroachment of ponds. It is suspected that the attack must have taken place due to one or more issues questioned by Sadashiva.

A case in this connection is registered in Kundapur city police station.

The District RTI Activists’ Association visited the hospital and enquired on the health condition of Sadashiva. It visited the police station and urged the cops to arrest the culprits soon.

District RTI president Sadashiva Shetty, convener Sathish Poojary, Mahesh Udupa and other office bearers were present.
