Doha: Central Indian Association of Qatar celebrates Holi in style

Doha, Mar 27: The Central Indian Association of Qatar celebrated Holi, attended by hundreds of members and representatives from numerous organizations.

President Jaiprakash Singh welcomed all guests and spoke of the significance of Holi. “Let us forget and forgive, repair broken relationships, and celebrate Holi with great fervor and joy,” he is quoted saying in the meet. He also revealed the annual plan of events to be held during this current year.

General secretary Syed Rafi spoke about the goals of Central Indian Association and the importance of celebrating and promoting Indian culture as its mission, and echoed the sentiments expressed by the president, to forgive, forget the enmity, and embrace all the world.

Hundreds of people gathered at this Meet & Greet Holi event and expressed their happiness and share their views and thoughts on this festival of colors. The event was attended by Praveen Buyyani as chief guest and he applauded the arrangements done by CIA Management Committee and its members Vandana Raj, Ashok Raj, Diamond Singh, Aslam, RichaGoel, Priya Johnson, Junaid, Rakesh Goel,Vipin, Reena Danao, Harish Choudaryand Jogesh Dewan.

As many as 100 people attended the show and encouraged the young dancers and singers who enthralled the crowd by stomping their feet, clapped and swung around in circles, flashing colours with music and melody in the background.Each of the traditional dance and music performances showcased the different cultures of Indian traditions, culture and heritage of the country.

“Art and culture know no boundaries and have the ability to transcend differences and unite states and people. The objective of celebrating Holi festival of colors is to foster relations with different states of Indians residing in Qatar through music and dance which has the ability to not just bring together Indian states with mutual interest, but also helps build relations and promote culture,” said Syed Rafi, General Secretary of Central Indian Association.

Mohinder Jalandhary Punjabi singer mesmerised the crowd with his brilliant songs and made them dance to his tunes. The performances started in the evening and lasted late into the night keeping the crowd shouting, cheering and asking for more. Vandana Raj with her beautiful hindi poems hosted the show.

The other artistes who performed at the event were Shubhangi, Priya Johnson, RichaGoel, Reena Danao Singh, Sriyanshi Dwibedi, Subodhidhaara Raj, Juby Johny, Shubhangi Gothwal, Ranjana Mishra, Sonal Pareek, Aslam Cheniyery, Usha Chaudhary, Reyansh Pareek, Aarna Mishra, Nabhya & Ashlyn. All the performers were felicitated by honouring them with appreciation certificates. Rakesh Goel closed the event by thanking all the attendees and performers for their participation in the program.
