Mangalore, Jan 27: Poovappa Gowda (35), a resident of Kompadavu Nelligudde, and Krishna (28), from Bellibettuguttu House in Kompadavu, lost their lives after the motor bike they were moving in, was hit by an express bus on Wednesday January 26.

The private bus in question was moving from Mangalore to Sringeri via Moodbidri, when it hit the motor bike near Lord Mahaganapati Temple in Ganjimutt. The two, who died, were going towards Kaikamba from the direction of Yedapadav for some work. While Poovappa Gowda died on the spot because of severe head injuries, Krishna breathed his last later, in a private hospital in the city.

Both of them were the bread winners of their respective families. Poovappa Gowda’s father had died some time back, and his aged mother is suffering from deficient eyesight. Poovappa was a bachelor, and two out of his three sisters are unmarried. He was working as an operator of a machine in laterite stone quarry, and functioned as the treasurer of Dharmasthala Rural Development Project’s Kompadavu unit.

Krishna, only son of the eight children of the late Monu owda and the late Kamala, was working as a mason. Out of seven daughters in the family, three are married.

While the post mortem of the body of Poovappa was conducted at Bajpe primary health centre, that of Krishna was conducted in the city. A case has been registered in this connection.
