Mangalore: Serial Killing of Women - Cheyyabba Beary Appointed Public Prosecutor

Mangalore, Jan 27: Cheyyabba Beary, a retired joint director in public prosecutors office, Karnataka, has been appointed as the special public prosecutor for handling cases on behalf of the state government, against serial killer, Mohan Kumar, relating to the killing of a number of women by offering them to marry. Beary, who is a lawyer by profession now, is a resident of Kinnikambla Kaikamba near here.

It may be recalled that Mohan, who had already married twice earlier, had approached a number of gullible girls, and offered to marry them. He had taken care to choose only those girls, who were from poor families, and who were waiting for a suitable alliance. He took them to various towns, spent a night with them in a hotel, and fed them cyanide in the form of tablet, which he told them, would avoid pregnancy. The policemen have so far, linked over 20 such deaths to Mohan Kumar.

The director of prosecution and government litigations, Bangalore, has made this appointment. Beary will be required to appear on behalf of the government in all cases pertaining to serial killing, purported to have been committed by Mohan Kumar.
