Mangalore: KSMC Chairman Warns Corrupt Officials of Strict Action

Mangalore, Jan 28: Chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission (KSMC), Anwar Manippady, said that he has been receiving complaints about demand for bribes being placed by case workers for issuance of caste and income certificates, and doctors and other personnel of hospitals, for providing treatment to patients. He warned that the corrupt officials will face suspension if they do not mend their ways within a month from now.

He was speaking to reporters after holding a special meeting with the divisional officer, tahsildar, district health officer, medical officers, officials of city corporation and women and child welfare department, at the Circuit House here on Thursday January 27.

“The people are finding it hard to get record of rights for their lands. Unless one pays money, patients are not being treated by government hospitals. I have complaints about the city-based Wenlock, Lady Goschen, and other hospitals including those located in Bantwal, Puttur, and Beltangady. I have already issued instructions to the officials in this connection,” he narrated.

He said he has information about hiring of private buildings for government offices at exorbitant rates, by entering into an understanding with the landlord.

Manippady also wanted to be provided with a list of beneficiaries in respect of supplying of nutritious food to children through Anganwadis, and spot inspection report about complaints of improper food provision in over 400 hostels, from women and child welfare department.

He said that a workshop for the presidents, secretaries and priests of 605 mosques within Dakshina Kannada district is being organized on Saturday January 29, to educate them about proper utilization of government grants, at Zeenat Baksh mosque in the city.  He said that grants get delayed because improper documents and records.
