Doha: Tulu Koota ’s ‘Parbada Darbar'  - a Grand Event

Doha, Jan 29 :  Tulu Koota Qatar, for the first time, hosted ‘Parbada Darbar’ at the Indian Club premises here on Friday January 28.  The evening began with a welcome note from Archana Shetty, Tulu Koota president. The executive committee members then escorted presidents of all the Karnataka-based associations to the dais and honoured them by handing over bouquets. The event began with the lightning of the lamp by Tulu Koota president, Ramachandra Shetty, Karnataka Sangha Qatar president, Arun Kumar, Riana Pinto representing MCC, MCA president, Harry Lobo, KMCA president, Saquib Raza Khan, SKMWA president, Abdulla Monu, Divakar Poojary, and Prakashchandra Ajila, who happen to be the past presidents of Tulu Koota Qatar.

The first event of the evening was the cine dance competition. Four groups participated in the below 16 years category. The teams representing Tulu Koota Qatar performed three dances, namely ‘Matakli’, and ‘Masakkali’, which were choreographed by Chaitali Shetty, and ‘Disco Dancer’, choreographed by Akshaya shetty. MCC team performed ‘Chori Chori’ choreographed by Shwetha. In the above 16 years category again, there were four groups.  TQ team performed ‘Jogi’, which was choreographed by Kishore Kumar Bajal and Mahesh Bolar, and ‘Albeli’, choreographed by Sharmila Hegde, MCC team performed ‘Babuji’, choreographed by Lakshmi Annet, and KSQ team performed ‘Andar Bahar’, choreographed by Milan Arun.  Each group proved to be an able contender, and posed tough challenge to the other teams, even as the audience enjoyed their performances thoroughly.



















































For the skit competition, there was only one entry, and the skit, titled ‘Kuleta Badavu’, directed by Vijay Kumar Rai Puttur, was performed by Tulu Koota members. This skit was so hilarious, that it left the audience laughing their hearts out thorough out the performance.


Three groups vied with each other in the ‘Mad Ads’ competition.  Tulu Koota members performed ‘Lafanga Parenda’, directed by Archana Shetty, and ‘Mad Bites’, directed by Padma Roshan Shetty, while KSQ performed ‘KSQ Mad Champs’ directed by Milan Arun.


A number of stalls set up at the venue, which functioned through out the evening, offered a variety of food items including Omelette, Biryani, Dosas, Dahi Vada, Goli Baje, Chicken Kebab, Pathrode, Dal, Vada, Buns, Poori Baji etc. Different types of dress materials, Salwars, Kurthas etc., were also on display in the stalls, along with a stall exclusively meant for perfumes, and a games stall.


The highlight of the evening was a musical performance from Thunder Kids. Talented singers of the troupe sang Kannada, English and Hindi songs with aplomb. This programme directed by Srinivas Rao, founder member of the Tulu Koota. Participants were Mayuri, Mehuli, Sri Nithiya, Neha, Sparsh, Vijay, Vibhav, Ruchira, Vanchith, Amar, Josephne, Saniba and Samiksha.

Judges for the evening were Tulu Koota founder member and senior citizen, Abdul Hye, Rajshekar Bappal, and Riana Pinto for Skit and Mad Ads competition, while Ambika Kumar and Nithiya G adjudged the cine dance competition.  The chief guest of the evening was Nilanshu De, president of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), while the guests of honour were Tulu Koota former president and managing director of Advanced Technical Services,  Ravi Shetty, and Abdulla Monu, president of SKMWA. Mementoes were presented to the judges by Manjunath H K, Prakash Rao, Harish Shetty, Iqbal Manna and Alexis Castelino.

President of the organization, Ramachandra Shetty, thanked the sponsors, supporters, volunteers and participants for sparing their valuable time and effort towards making this event a grand success. Chief guest, Nilanshu Dey, addressed the gathering and praised Tulu Koota members for their support to the Indian community here towards conducting social and cultural activities. Guest of honour, Ravi Shetty, thanked the Tulu Koota members for rendering their support for all events and congratulated the president and committee members for organizing such a wonderful event.

Prize distribution ceremony was conducted by the ICBF secretary, Divakar Poojary, in his unique style.

Milan Arun, head of Affiliations and Consular Services at ICC, Felix Lobo, founder member of Tulu Koota, Divakar Poojary, ICBF secretary, and presidents of a number of associations graced the occasion.  Host of the evening was Prarthana Shetty, while vote of thanks was proposed by the vice- president, Asmath Ali.

The winners of cine dance competition (below 16 years), were 1) Tulu Koota Masakkali dance, 2) Tulu Koota Matakkali dance, and 3) Tulu koota Disco Dancer dance, while the MCC bagged consolation prize for its ‘Chori Chori’ number.

Cini dance (above 16 category) winners were,  1) Tulu Koota’s Albeli dance 2) Karnataka Sangha’s (KSQ) Andar Bahar dance, and 3) Tulu Koota’s Jogi dance

Mad Ads winners:  1)Lafanga Parenda 2) Karnataka Sangha’s (KSQ) Mad Champs 3) Tulu Koota’s Mad Bites.

    Festive atmosphere and the involvement of members from every community irrespective of the caste and creed were the testimony for the grand success of this another TuluKoota’s special event organised with professional touch, the end result has been further enhanced by the participants with their brilliant show as I can see it from the wonderful photographs and also with whatever little I could see and heard at the venue during the fag end of the session. Congratulations to all. I really missed cream part of another wonderful event of Tulu Kooota due to unavoidable circumstances.

    Three cheers to all the committee members ably lead by Mr.Ramachandra Shetty and to all the dedicated volunteers for their continued selfless service and support. Progress being shown in both quality and enthusiastic participation in every event has been the hall mark of this dedicated team, which is taking Tulu Koota’s flag to greater height.Special word of appreciation to Mr.Alex for the descriptive coverage of the event .
