Udupi, Jan 29: The women’s wing of Jamat-E-Islami Hind Karnataka and Goa’s district unit here, will be organizing a district level convention of women on Sunday January 30, at the Board High School ground. The subject of the convention is ‘Model Woman for Secure Family and Healthy Society’.

The organization said that it has recognized the fact that the need of giving a place of importance and respect to women in the society has become a burning issue now. As Islam has a code of conduct that gives a place of prominence to the women, it identifies that the women can become the exponents of humanity, rightful place and rights for them in the society. History has time and again shown that highly accomplished individuals and revolutionary men were looked after and groomed in the laps of noble women.

The organization notes that the number of such women has come down now, because of the efforts being made to keep them away from their rights and rightful positions, masking the duty consciousness hidden in them. ‘It cannot be denied that only a few women have benefitted from the rights Islam has granted them. If women are not given their rights, wrong opinions and conceptions become easier to spread, which has given rise to ignoble and false propaganda, and wrong notions at the national and international levels about the rights and status of Muslim women. The said convention is being organized to meet the need to create an awareness among the women about the importance of their roles in families, and to stress the need to play that role, and to ensure that the women get the rights and status they genuinely deserve, said Sameena Shukur, convener of the campaign for Muslim women, Udupi district.

With these purpose in mind, the above organization has been undertaking a campaign from January 21 to 30 at various districts. Likewise, Udupi district unit of the organization has also undertaken various programmes in this direction. In the day-long convention being held here on Sunday, convener of Jamat-E-Islami Hind’s state level women’s unit, Amarurrazack, Girls Islamic Organization state president, Madiha Afshan, columnist, Jyoti Guruprasad, and editor of ‘Anupama’ monthly for women, Shahanaz M, and others will be participating, the release added.

The organization has invited all the women to take part in the convention and get benefits out of the programmes being held there.
