Udupi, Jan 29: A youth named Madhukar (27) from Pitrody near here lost his life in an accident that occurred near Herur, Uppoor in the taluk on national highway 17, on the evening of Friday January 28.

Madhukar was moving to the house of his in-laws located at Manur on his motor bike, when a backhoe engaged in connection with the widening work of the national highway, which was joining the highway from the sideway, hit his motor bike. As the teeth of the backhoe’s bucket hit his abdomen, Madhukar suffered grave injuries. He breathed his last while being shifted to Manipal Hospital.

Reportedly, Madhukar’s wife had given birth to a baby a few days back, and the family was preparing to hold cradle ceremony in a couple of days. He was working in a boat, and being the only son of his parents, happened to be the bread winner for the family. He is survived by wife, parents, and two sisters.
