Udupi, Apr 2: Police flag day was marked by Udupi district police on April 2, in Udupi police grounds. Mathew Archibald D'souza, retired assistant police superintendent CSP Udupi was the chief guest for the programme.
Parade was held by the Police Personnel's on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Mathew Archibald D'souza said, "It is an honor for me to be part of this programme. I have the satisfaction of serving in the police department for 28 years. I always believed that the police profession is meant for protecting the citizens. It is a gift of the Lord. Police personnel should concentrate more on savings which would be helpful for them during retirement. I request the higher officers to consider the 'Arogya Bhagya' scheme for retired police officers and include more hospitals under this scheme," he said.
Udupi Police superindent Vishnuvardhan welcomed the gathering. On the occasion he said, "I have sent a memorandum to the higher authority to include Kasturba Hospital Manipal under Arogya Bhagya scheme for police. We have also extended the canteen facility for all. Police welfare fund is also working actively and many police personnel are availing this facility," he said.
Guests also released the Police flag stamps and contribution for the police welfare fund was also collected on the occasion. Beneficiaries of the Police welfare fund were distributed with monetary benefits.
