Mangalore, Jan 31: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy has invited applications for its annual honorary awards for the year 2010. Honorary awards will be conferred on two individuals, who have done meritorious work in the field of Beary language, literature, research, and studies, and one person, who has appreciably served the art field in Beary language.
The applications can be either submitted by the aspirants themselves, or their fans or followers. The applications received in the previous years will also be considered afresh. In case of such applications, additional or noteworthy information if any, may be furnished now. In the case of new applications, along with the introduction of the person concerned, all the information should be sent in the prescribed format of the academy, which is available in the office of the academy. The application accompanied by a recent photograph and copies of records, may be sent either through post, or in person, to the office of the academy.
Book Reward: Applications under the Book Reward scheme of the academy have also been invited. These applications may be made either by the author himself or by the publisher. Books published between January 1 to December 12, will be considered under this scheme. The works of writers, who have bagged the reward once in the past, will not be considered for three consecutive years. Four copies of the books, along with application, should be submitted under this project.
Books that are translated from Beary to other languages, other languages into Beary language, poems, short stories, novels, epic poems, plays, and study works about Beary language, will also be considered.
The applications and four copies of works in covers super scribed ‘Honorary Award – 2010 scheme’ should be sent to the president/registrar, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Presidium Commercial Complex, Attavar, Nandigudda Road, Mangalore – 575001. In a release, registrar of the academy, Chandrahas Rai, said that February 15 will be the last date for the submission of these applications.
