Noida: Rape accused held after 8 months


Noida, Apr 6 (IANS): A 22-year-old man, accused of raping a minor girl here in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, was finally arrested by the police after eight months of the incident, an official said.

The accused was identified as Wahid Saifi, a resident of Gautam Budh Nagar.

According to the police, the man had allegedly committed the heinous crime with a 17-year-old girl on July 30, 2021 after which the police swung into action and registered an FIR under sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc.), 368 (Wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement, kidnapped or abducted person), 376 (Punishment for rape), 120 B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and section 16, 17 of the POCSO act.

The accused was arrested from village Habibpur on March 5.
