Ajman, Feb 2: A team of delegates from Malaysian Medical Council, Mallaysia led by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Mohd Ismail- Merican, President of the Malaysian Medical Council-cum-Director General of Health, Malaysia, Dr Wan Mazlan Mohamed Woojdy, Secretary-Malaysian Medical Council, Mr Perumal Chinaya, Legal-Officer, Malaysian Medical Council, visited the Gulf Medical University and GMC Hospital, Ajman –UAE on the 31st of January, 2011 to recognize and list the academic programs of Gulf Medical University (GMU) in Malaysian Medical Council Registry. The visiting delegation was accorded a warm welcome by the Founder President of Gulf Medical University Mr Thumbay Moideen, Provost Prof Gita Ashok Raj and the academic team.
The visiting delegation was briefed to an audio-visual presentation followed by a visit to various medical facilities, departments and advanced laboratories. The University aims at improving the quality medical education to the students. They have also inspected the newly inaugurated Learning and Information Centre which houses multimedia laboratories, learning and discussion rooms and a graduate study centre. Further, they have inspected the Indoor and Outdoor Sports Complex, Health Club and Spa located in the university campus. Later the visiting team interacted with the 2nd and 3rd Year MBBS students.
The visiting delegates from Malaysian Medical Council were highly impressed that the GMU and GMC Hospital has an international faculty, modern facilities and exceptional teaching arrangements to offer to all its students and felt extremely satisfied with the professional set up. They emphasized that this will enable Malaysian students to register with the Malaysian Medical Council after completion of their studies in GMU, Ajman.
The Malaysian Medical Council also extended an invitation for GMU to launch their branch campus in Malaysia.
