Sullia: Sexual harassment of mentally ill woman – Accused sentenced to two years in prison

Sullia, Apr 11: Accused in the sexual harassment case of a mentally ill woman was sentenced to two years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 by the court.

A case was registered against Subrahmanya, resident of Kote Mundugaru of Kalanja village, accusing him of sexually harassing a 28 year old woman, while she was alone at home at Kanchodu of Balila village on January 11, 2015.

The then SI of Sullia Chandrashekhar had submitted charge sheet in the court. Inquiry of the case was done by senior judge Somashekar A. If the convict fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo one months of simple imprisonment in addition.

Assistant public prosecutor Janardhan argued for the prosecution.

    It is a shame after seven years only two years of prison?No protection for disabled women ?After two years he will do it again the same ?Give him atleast 5 years of prison .It is not a good verdict.
