Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School pays tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar

Mangaluru, Apr 14: Lourdes Central School with due respect paid salutation to the architect of the Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkaron the occasion of his birthday on April 14.

The principal Fr Robert DSouza and vice principal Belita Mascarenhes graced the occasion and the school lobby was decorated with the beautiful paintings, pictures and quotes of Dr Ambedkar which gave a peaceful ambience and a bird’s-eye view into his past life.

The programme commenced at 8.00 am in the school lobby with the devotional prayer asking God to bless our country and our leaders with the noble qualities of Dr B R Ambedkar. Thought for the day resounded the quotes of Dr B R Ambedkar and the Preamble of the Constitution of India which was pledged on November 1949 was repeated with due respect by the staff and students in the campus.

The image of Dr B R Ambedkar was garlanded by the principal, staff and students with due reverence.

The contributions and achievements of Dr B R Ambedkar who was a Dalit icon and who worked diligently for the upliftment of women, labourers and untouchables was highlighted and stressed upon by the students. Dr Ambedkar was posthumously conferred with the Bharat Ratna the highest civilian award in 1990.

The principal Fr Robert DSouza in his concluding message mentioned that Dr B R Ambedkar and his works have a great impact on our lives and we owe a lot to this great personality. The whole programme was meaningful and spread a message of peace and harmony. Lourdes Central School paid homage this great personality on the occasion of his birthday and called upon the young citizens of the country to follow his footsteps.
