Udupi, Apr 16: On the death of contractor Santhosh Patil and subsequent resignation of minister K S Eshwarappa, former deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwar said, “The president of an authorized organization in the state has directly accused BJP state government of taking 40% commission for every work. Even when such acts are brought to the notice of the chief minister or prime minister, no action is taken.
“In the death note, deceased Santhosh Patil has clearly written that minister Eshwarappa has harassed him and he should be punished. We have already appealed to the governor in this regard. The Congress has urged to arrest Eshwarappa and hold inquiry. The investigation of this case should be undertaken by team of high court judge. The government should provide suitable compensation to the family of Santhosh Patil. An investigation will reveal whether this is a case of suicide or not.
“The case in which former minister K J George was accused and the case of Santhosh Patil are entirely different. When it was accused that George has committed mistake, he resigned gracefully. CBI inquiry was also held. Let this investigation be done honestly. A1 accused should be arrested. A1 means you are the root cause of this suicide,” he said.
Responding to the query of scribes on religious friction in the state, Dr Parameshwar said, “No one can put this right through law. The minds of people have to change. Earlier, when I was MLA and minister, I had spoken about the incidents. If we do not convey this to public, then who will make them aware? I have said this with the intention of changing the thoughts at least in the 21st century.”
Clarifying on the rumours of former minister Pramod Madhwaraj joining BJP, Parameshwar said, “I have already spoken on this matter. He has some demands and suggestions. We will correct all those and march forward. I do not think he will join BJP.”
