Mangaluru: Zubair murder case - Three sentenced to life imprisonment

Mangaluru, Apr 21: Justie B B Jakati of additional district and sessions court of the city sentenced three accused to life imprisonment in the murder case of Zubair, resident of Mukkacheri, who was murdered in from the Mukkacheri mosque on October 4, 2017.

Nisam alias Nizamuddin, Thaju alias Thajuddin and Mustafa alias Mohammed Mustafa are the accused who are convicted by the court.

The then police inspector Gopikrishna K R had submitted chargesheet to the court. Fifth accused in the case Altaf died during the trial of the case, while prime accused Suhail is still at large.

Zubair

In addition to life sentence all the three convicts are slapped with a fine of Rs 20,000. If they are unable to pay the fine, they have to undergo an additional prison term of four months. The convicts are also awarded prison sentence of five years for crime under column 326 of IPC and fine of Rs 5,000. Additional one month jail term is also given if the convicts fail to pay the fine.

The judge has directed Dakshina Kannada legal services authority to pay Rs 50,000 to father of deceased Zubair and Rs 20,000 to Ilyas, who was injured in the act.

Public prosecutor Narayana Serigar U argued for the prosecution.
