Mangaluru: St Agnes College organizes session for final year students

Mangaluru, Apr 21: The department of Commerce at St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru organised an interactive session for the final year students through the St Agnes College Commerce Students Association (SACCSA), titled ‘Achievers Express’ on April 20.

The speaker invited for the programme was CA Salome Deepa Lobo, one of the Agnesian achievers. A woman of many accomplishments, she is a certified management accountant and a chartered accountant by profession. She is also the partner and co-founder of D’Souza and Lobo, a firm of chartered accountants based in Mangaluru.

CA Salome Lobo, the keynote speaker, then took the stage to address the students. She conveyed to the students three important messages. First and foremost, she stressed that hard work is essential to get us ahead in life but even so, it was necessary that we found our passion and worked towards it.

Secondly, she elaborated on the role of ‘FAILURE’ in ‘SUCCESS’. She told the gathering that success is only a measure but failure propels one to success. We must learn to embrace our success as well as our failures. She motivated the students through the quote, ”Losers quit when they fail. Winners fail until they succeed.”

Lastly, she spoke of ‘Perseverance’ and ‘Commitment’ as the two qualities essential in accomplishing any goal. Without them, it is not possible to fulfil our dreams. She also touched on fear, mental health and self-love and self-care.

The session then proceeded into the Question and Answers session.Salome clarified students queries with equal enthusiasm and patience.

In recognition of her various achievements, Salome Lobo was honoured by Sr Clera Rodrigues AC, the vice principal, Sheryl Preethika, the head of the department of Commerce and Nimitha K the dean of Commerce and Management.

Mokshitha S and Sr Christina AC assistant professor department of Commerce were the staff coordinators.
