Mangaluru: Scout and guides - Summer Camp held at Cascia High School, Jeppu

Mangaluru, Apr 21: Cascia High School Jeppu organized 3 days Scout and guide summer camp in collaboration with local association Mangalore South.

High school students and college students participated in the camp from April 18 to 20. The camp was held in the school premises. The purpose of the camp to inculcate practical knowledge into children to enhance their overall development and improve their behavior.

The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the president Everest Crasta and the resource persons guide captain Sufala, guide captain Geeta Saldana, guide captain Preethi lobo and PTA president Vijayalakshmi.

The president of the programme as well as headmaster Mr Everest Crasta motivated the guides by sharing his life experience and also guiding the campers on making good choices and taking responsibility for their actions so that they are prepared for their adult life as an independent person.

The training included camping, petrol formation, improving physical stamina and immunity by the ways of different BP 6 exercises. The students also learnt different knots with ropes and most importantly the methods of providing first aid in case of medical emergency.

The camp also included topic such as estimation, compass and mapping, Wood Craft signs, group games,pioneering,action songs etc.

The students participated in the camp with the great zeal and enthusiasm. It was memorable experience for the children as they learnt life skills through this programme. The guide captain Sufala Bhat leader trainer, guide captain Geeta Saldanaha guide captain Helen lobo, Rover Prithesh were resource persons of the camp. Lathish the finance manager, financial literacy center, Amulya has given information regarding importance of saving money and awarence towards fraud calls from bank. The camp was conducted under the guidance of guide captain Preethi Lobo.

The headmasterEverest Crasta sponsored rupees 15000 in memory of Late Phiomena Fernandes towards guides uniform. One day snacks was sponsored by PTA president Vijayalakshmi.

Swati is guide of 10th standard generator for long hair towards the preparation of wigs of cancer patient.

The camp helped young students to develop physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. It also helped them to build self confidence, self esteem, learning important life skills and leadership skills, team building, education and fun.

The end of one event is the new beginning for others on this note the young guides concluded a memorable and knowledgeable Scout and Guide Camp.
