Udupi: Two hijab protestors return without attending exams

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Apr 22: Aliya Assadi and Resham returned from the PU examination centre without attending the exams on Friday April 22. The second PU examinations began in the state on Saturday.

The students had urged the officials to allow them to write the exams wearing hijab.

The principal of the college had earlier informed on Thursday that the Muslim girl students who protested against Hijab and have not collected their hall tickets for the examination, can do so till the last moment. Two girl students whose exam was on Friday, who were among the six, who protested against prohibition of Hijab had still not collected their hall tickets till Thursday.

It may be recalled, six girl students of a college protested against the college authorities for denying them entry into the classroom wearing Hijab.

The demand by a section of girls in the Udupi pre-university college to wear Hijab inside their classrooms erupted into a major row after some Hindu students turned up in saffron shawls, with the issue spreading to other parts of the state, even as the government insisted on a uniform norm. The matter then went to court.

Later, the Karnataka high court pronounced its verdict on the hijab row stating wearing hijab is not an essential religious practice.

For any community's development, women should be educated in every household. Since educated women will educate everyone in that household unlike, educated men.but this one particular community don't want this and pressurize women to be inside burqa. Women should resist this, then only every household, society and community will develop and all these politicians will bite dust.

I strongly urge the girls to write your exams, whatever the situation is. Do not let any political party influence you .We all know that the govt is hand in glove with the saffron elements to create hurdles and oppose a particular community in every possible way. Just write your exams .You did what you could do, rest leave it to almighty. In this holy month, just pray to Almighty with conviction and Almighty will guide you.

The decree of Lord is important than any human laws or any Sljudges sitting in courts and delivering verdicts. I They will get the best in both worlds. People who are enjoying after they have been denied entry should know that these girls life didn't end here. Infact their bedt of life have started. They will get education if not in India surely in the best of universities across the globe if they wish for it. These are not minor sacrifices they did to safeguard their right and modesty and fulfillng the divine law. There are many instances of Islamic history were such sacrifices which initially turned failure has been rewarded later by God Almighty in this world. Be it of first Muslim lady Sumaiiyah or black slave Bilaal who was then rewarded the exalted status in Islam.

That is 0.0043% of total student strength appearing for exam from DK and Udupi. Will not also count much in increasing the pass percentage either for that college. Nobody's loss except these 2 and their parents.

Seeing so many people addressing college degree as something that is so so essential to be educated. You can get educated regardless. & there are tons of universities in the world - much bigger. Degree was a life changer in 1980, not now.

They are the smart girls you see. Now they can enter politics as well as they can get rewards from Owaisi party which would be like ipads, airpods, iphones and all lavish things. Every month they would get money to their bank accounts from supporters in gulf countries. Now tell me do they really need to write exams.

Dear Sisters, Please please focus on your studies. Complete your graduation and post graduation. Do not fall prey to these political outfits. They are illiterate and have hidden agenda please go back to studying and become independent. You have great potential and opportunity to become job creators in India. Please do not quit studies. In India you will not be prevented from practising your religious freedom in public places. School is a different issue please understand. All progressive Islamic nations practice uniformity in places of study. Education and knowledge is the only path to freedom. All the best. May God guide you in the right path

Once again we are taken for a big ride by the usual supporters. Its sad to hear that the same supporters who appreciated your earlier stand by saying 'Good job!' 'Well done Sister!' Teach the BJP and sanghis a good lesson'! 'Where is Modi? ' , have not only backed out but disappeared!!. I have always warned , not to get emotional with these war cries. We suffered a lot during the CAA protest. Al least, I have some respect to center as they openly say 'we are against you'. But NOT to the ones who provoke , instigate and later stay indoors.

Suffering during CAA protests was invited by fanatics resorting to arson and violence. All minorities did not support CAA protests except a few hardcore followers of powerless ghulami leaders. As for hijab, St. Agnes College too had politely turned it down when the issue cropped up a few years ago. In the present case too you can count on the support of those few hardcore ghulams.
