CM advocates solving Azan decibel level issue harmoniously

Bengaluru, Apr 22: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the police to solve the decibel level of the Azan prayer call issue in mosques harmoniously by holding peace committee meetings at the police station level.

Speaking to media persons in Kalaburgi on Friday, Bommai said the police have been given instructions to ensure that the issue does not escalate into a law and order problem.

“The process of holding consultations with the representatives of the people concerned is going on and all must follow the law,’’ he said.

Bommai made it clear that there is a High Court order on Azan. “A circular has already been issued in accordance with that. The rule also specifies the decibel level. The Director General of Police has already issued the circular."

It is significant to note that the Chief Minister has been adopting a very moderate and not so aggressive attitude on the Azan issue unlike the ruling BJP’s stand on the Hijab or Halal meat issue. It is believed that BJP Central leaders have asked the Bommai regime not to adopt a strident posture as it may affect the party’s image.

'No differences in BJP'

Replying to a question, the Chief Minister made it clear that unity in the party is stronger than what it was earlier.

“There are no differences in the party. A few issues that had cropped up have been resolved. We are more united than ever,’’ he said.

The Chief Minister asserted that greater importance is being given for the development of Kalyana Karnataka region. We are confident of taking everyone along.

Skills on Wheels for Rural Youth

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the ‘Skills on Wheels’ initiative to help provide training in developing skills suitable to the rural youth at their local places so as to enable them to earn livelihood.

Higher Education and Skills Development Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani, former Deputy Chief Minister Lakshman Savadi, BJP MP Dr Umesh Jadhav, MLAs Dattatreya Patil Revoor and Raju Gowda were among the key participants.

Every religious house should maintain the same decibel level as that of the azan. No discrimination. All are equal...Even now, many depend on the timings of azan irrespective of castes. Morning/afternoon/evening.....and adjust and work accordingly depending on the timing of azan....Who sees the watch ? Many a times, i too observe azan. Oh adan is over...i have to hurry fast or eat etc.

Any religion, any community, don't make it a mess daily. Call out to God from your heart, not through loud speakers. These are recent inventions. It sounds as if God is far off when these are used. He isn't.

CM knows if the order is not implemented wisely BD mercenaries will use Hijab tactics by raising temple decibels. Police have no choice here but to implement the court order strictly.

could he not find this good sense earlier when mischisfmongers raised the issue? as if Hindu temples and processions do not create an ear-blasting racket during festivals. I have forgotten how many times I had requested Hindu temples and then the cops to curb the noise when children and old people were finding it difficult to sleep - and that too in this city of Bangalore! Nosie from the mosques is quite sedate by comparison. This is not a CM, he is a puppet.

In Mangalore our house is surrounded by temples. Any festival of Hindus that is almost in couple of days there are blaring loudspeakers day and night and you cannot even sleep. Very bad for senior citizens. When will the honourable minister will look into this. Or since Hindu community is a majority they will conveniently forget about it or try to ignore Even the police are not bothered with the complaints. The temple gets good donations
