Mangaluru: Police intervene, help French national recover Rs 7.76 lac

Mangaluru, Apr 23: Police intervened and helped a French national, residing in the city for employment purpose from being taken for a ride by a local resident, who had borrowed money from him.

Thiofel (29), native of Ville city in France, was living in a rented house in the city since a year. He was an employee of Solar In Dew company of France and was involved in the installation work of floating sea solar since a year.

A local man, who got acquainted with the French national, borrowed Rs 7.76 lac from Thiofel in various instalments in the past four months on the pretext of starting a hotel business. However, he delayed returning the borrowed money as promised and also cut off his mobile phone connection.

The French national had approached DCP Hariram Shankar and explained his ordeal.

City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that father of the person who borrowed money from Thiofel, paid the complete amount to the French national, as his son was not successful in the intended hotel business for which he borrowed money from the French national. Hence, the issue was resolved by the intervention of city police.
