BA.2 variant found in Bengaluru, experts warn of fourth wave

Bengaluru, Apr 23 (IANS): Karnataka Health Department has stepped up measures to tackle the emerging situation in the state in the backdrop of detection of two cases of Omicron sub-variant BA.2, which is more transmissible than the original strain, in Bengaluru.

A decision has been taken to increase the number of tests in the state, especially in Bengaluru.

The authorities are worried that higher number of Covid cases are being reported from Mahadevapura and East Zones in Bengaluru where most major IT companies are located with lakhs of software professionals at work.

C.N. Manjunath, director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bengaluru, said on Saturday that Covid variants BA.2.10 and BA.2.12 have been found in the state.

BA.2 variants were earlier found in New Delhi and Mumbai.

Manjunath feels there is a possibility of a fourth Covid wave beginning in Karnataka in three to four weeks, and the BA.2 variant might be responsible for the surge.

However, if a fourth wave hits the state, the number of people getting admitted to hospitals will be lesser than before though the infection will spread rapidly, Manjunath stated.

"There are no restrictions in place in the state now and all activities have resumed just like in the pre-Covid period. This is going to result in a spike in Covid cases in another two weeks. People need to be cautious," he warned.

Those with comorbidities need to be cautious, while wearing masks should again be made mandatory, Manjunath said.

He also advised people not to neglect symptoms of fever, cough and cold and get tested at the earliest.

Earlier, Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar had said that some studies have shown that the fourth wave of Covid-19 may start in June-July and last till September, and the state is prepared to face it.

    Precaution (3rd) dose should be taken from everyone. Its time to act smart. Govt should take some steps before its too late, educate people. Eat healthy, think healthy. Anything too much is too bad. IT companies are opening up!! All IT companies need to take steps like other companies in Bangalore. Work from home should be continued or just 30% should be working from office if and only its needed. Most of the companies can give work from home without any problem. They can also think about hybrid work model. The number of people getting admitted to hospitals will be lesser than before though the infection will spread rapidly, so need to act smart and act soon.

    @Dr Sudhesh, for your info, data from all vaccinated countries reveals all about jabs reducing severity or hospitalization to deaths are lies which vaccine mafia used to market their toxic unproven products. Corona is just like or less dangerous than seasonal flu according to the CDC of USA. Survival rate of 99.997% is or never was a pandemic but scamdemic created with fake tests and lies about healthy people (asymptomatic) spreading the infection. Yes doctors and nursed toiled hard without rest or sleep in many countries without proper safety gear which took heavy toll of them as it reduces immunity. More people died in hospitals due to heavy use of toxic drugs like Remdesiver and mismanagement of viral infections. In west they used Midazolam laced with morphine with 10 times more dosage on elderly patients which is nothing but euthanasia by bankrupt governments and blamed it on corona. Recent study found people who had got infected in 2002 with SARS Covid 1 and 2 had natural immunity even 18 years afterwards unlike jab induced short term immunity. The study also found natural immunity is 13 &half times more stronger than jabbed people. Finally billions of people who didn't either got vaxed or used masks aren't dying in millions but vaxed people are into hospitals more than unvaxed. Natural Immunity is the only solution against all viruses and their variants and only on an average people who had crossed 75 and are in their 80's died if they had comorbidities which is average age of deaths in most countries too. One point makes us wonder average death rate in a day, week, month or year was almost the same but deaths by heart attacks, liver and kidney failure, cancers and strokes just vanished, a miracle modern medicine had failed to achieve until corona came ! After the jabs the numbers have jumped exponentially in all these categories which never was seen even among youngsters who had no medical history at all. I request all to do their own research

    I request the government to stop all tests as they are never indicators of any existence of viral infections. As per their own claim it won't overwhelm any hospitals and no need for any precautions as ICMR survey shows now mostly all people have antibodies against the so called corona and no more vaccines or boosters are required. If the government insists then that would be waste of public tax payers money which is a social crime benefiting the vaccine industries which is not less than corrupt practice causing loss to the people to benefit corporate honchos. Time to end all unscientific measures and practices and move forward. People can't be fooled every time with same game. Development or fake plandemic to ruin our economy is million dollars question.

    Remember it was sacrifice of thousands of doctors and nurses who sacrificed their time and lives to save mankind from corona assault ,that we are alive and kicking, let us not let our guard down as we have learnt how important it is to get vaccinsted and how it can prevent severity and hospitalisation, Also remember masking not only prevents you from corona but other respiratory infection too.agreed some people have made hay while the sun was shining, but nothing can be done about this as corruption is in our blood .i remember seeing the fear from close quarters as a phc doctor, while all had shut doors to patients, it was people like me and my staff who used to examine patient without proper gear and have saved so many lives in and around our phc area.

    How come they predict fourth wave is coming on so so date and month....? Is it man made wave ? If covid is fast spreading, why there was no increment in cases when we got to read 5 cases in dk 2 in udupi some time ago? From 5 ...how come do not multiply ? How cases multiply all of a sudden ? Really confused/confusing.....Now many are vaccinated ....even during the fourth wave also people will be vaccinated....Whats this all about ??? Are they simply giving wide publications through media for just viral cold and fever which comes every change of season ??? 🤔
