Mangaluru, May 1: Harshith Shetty won the first-ever Comedy Raje title for Tulu standup comedy show powered by Vivek Poojary, MD Panama Corporation and aired on Daijiworld Television.
In the grand finale held at Don Bosco Hall here in Mangaluru, Harshith Shetty was crowned the title with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 by Mrs and Mr Sambasiva Rao, Managing director, Sun Premium Refined sunflower oil. Walter Nandalike, Founder, Daijiworld Media Ltd, Alexis Castelino, Marketing Director, Daijiworld Television, RJ Arpith, judge of the show Comedy Raje-Rani, C K Prashanth, host of the show were present.
"I am overwhelmed. It is a memorable moment in my life. The stage of Comedy Raje-Rani taught me many new things which are very useful in standup comedy. I got recognized after getting selected in this show. I thank Daijiworld Television and the entire team." said Harshith after receiving the title.
Wishing the finalists and winner Walter Nandalike said "Standup comedy is a new thing for the Tulu entertainment world. RJ Arpith , the judge of the show is one of the pioneers who introduced standup comedy in Tulu as a regular basis by his channel. We were not sure that the show would run for a long period. But once the telecast began, viewers liked it and started to call the office to enroll. Later, the show became one of the most popular comedy shows in coastal Karnataka and people accepted it wholeheartedly. Today we have got a new winner of the show. At the same time we also got many new talents. We will definitely start the second season of the show. I thank RJ Arpith and our sponsor Vivek Raj Poojary for their generosity towards arts and talents."
As many as 250 contestants took part in the auditions which commenced on October 12, 2021. In all, 30 contestants with perfect comedy timing were selected for different rounds. After five months of performance in the standup comedy reality show Raja Rani, five contestants were selected for the finals.
The entire concept of Raja Rani is beyond typical standup comedy shows with different rounds in it.
Arpith Indravardhan of Mad in Kudla fame was the judge for the Raja Rani standup comedy reality show, while actor Prashanth C K was seen playing different characters throughout the reality show.
