Eating roadside non-veg items are fatal one or the other day. Shawarma is not burnt properly in the rotating fire. Nobody checking the quality also. But people like to eat it no matter how bad it is for the health & how unhygienic it may be. Now girl lost life who is to be blamed for the tragedy?

Salmonella: Raw eggs and undercooked poultry are common sources of salmonella poisoning. Salmonella is responsible for the highest number of hospitalizations and deaths from food poisoning.

Dear People please for your safety follow below notes : Tahina sauce used in Shawarma sandwich should be kept on Ice that required temperature 10 to 15 degrees non of the Shawarma outlets in India in generally and particularly in Mangalore following the rules - Food health department says outlet does not have license to sell the food -do the Health department knows the rules for Shawarma - sauce used in it ??? moreover to give better taste they mix the Tahina sauce with Mayonnaise and white garlic sauce which is more dangerous if not kept above ice and served. Once Tahina se sauces applied Shawarma should not made hot again since these sauces contain egg so will get contaminated again. I am sharing my 29 years experience since I am in Gulf fast 1993 and I started my carrier from food service outlet . Thank you all.

We had the same issue in Bengaluru, when some students consumed it and fell ill and it was swept under the carpet. Shawrma is an Arabic and middle eastern delicacy, limited to only Arabic restaurants in the Gulf. In the 2000s, the Mallus created their own version by adding some french fries, tomatoes etc with some other cheap ingredients and started selling at their joints. It soon flowed over to Mallu land in India . Assuming themselves to be the descendents of Arabs, some Mallus thought it was their birth right that they inherited. God knows what they have mixed in here . Same oil, meat and other ingredients are used over and over again.

Shawarma in Kasaragod !! Seriously!!?????????? If you want to taste the real Shawarma, you have to visit a Lebanese or any Arabic restaurent. Its a bit expensive, but thats genuine stuff. They have the appropriate ingredients. On the other hand , Mallu restuarants use, french fries , Noor Mayoneese, Tandoori and chillie powder etc to fool the gullible Indian youth. Gen the meat is used only once, but in Indian joints the unused meats are not even kept in the fridge and reused again and again.

@ Simon....Food, Clothing etc. are usually associated with a specific culture or region, but it keeps evolving…. Across the world, it is quite normal to try variations of various cuisines with locally available ingredients…. We in Kerala have shown a ready attitude to accept and assimilate new thoughts, concepts etc in any field…. We don’t think we become by eating Shawarma, we become descendants of Arabs or by eating Pizza we become descendants of Benito Mussolini or Sonia Maino…. Such cheap thoughts are apposite to the mentality of the people of Karnataka, who allow themselves to be subjugated by the State in terms of what to eat, what not to eat, what to wear, what not to wear, where to buy etc…. Don’t know whether these monkeys are aware of what they call Indian in the name of Salwar Kameez is essentially a Mughal dress and the Shirts / Trousers are Oriental…. We will continue to eat what we like, continue to wear what we want, continue to think in our own way and yet will remain Malayalis or Keralites…. Food poisoning is a bad thing which should not have happened and the reason for food poisoning also could be (Assumption) due to the fact most of the eateries owned by Muslims closed their outlets last Friday for a long time and the meat would have deteriorated as it requires continuous warming and meat would have been reused after keeping in cold storage.

Shawarma is the most simple and healthy food and is widely consumed in the middle eastern countries... I suspect the meat must have stayed on the stick for a long time... This calls for genuine routine inspections by food dept officials... RIP to the young soul...
