No compromise or hesitation in helping Dalits, poor: Bommai

Bengaluru, May 2: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday asserted that his government will not compromise or hesitate in extending a helping hand for the welfare of the Dalits and poor.

Speaking after launching the ‘Kalyana Mitra’ helpline of the State Social Welfare Department and inauguration of a workshop for the development and improving the professional skills of the departmental officers in Vidhana Soudha, he said he considered it his primary duty to work for the welfare of the Dalits and poor and wipe the tears of the poorest of the poor to enable them lead a life of self-respect.

The Chief Minister exhorted the officials to work honestly and efficiently to work for the implementation of the laws and welfare programmes. “You must discharge not only your duties but work for the welfare of the people,’’ he said.

Bommai said commitment and capabilities were important for implementing the government programmes and thereby serve all sections of the people, especially Dalits and poor.

The funds allocated by the government for various departments and for the programmes must be properly utilized in a timely manner, he said making it clear that the government will not tolerate delays, laxity and inefficiency.

The Chief Minister said urged the officials to ensure that the documents must be simplified and also ensure that there was coordination among the officials and staff so that the benefits of the programmes reach the targeted beneficiaries in time.

The State Government is keen to implement a 5-year plan for the development of SCs and STs and establish an Anchor Bank to extend financial assistance, he said explaining the various policy initiatives and benefits offered by the government. The SC/ST beneficiaries will be provided with financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh for purchase of land for self-employment programmes, Rs 2 lakh for construction of houses, he said.

The Chief Minister promised to extend all support for officers and staff in the Social Welfare Department in carrying out their duties honestly and efficiently.

    Give CT Ravis ,Ishwarappas and Kalladkas KP Bhats direct number to Dalit's helpline all will be finished or completed? When Dalits given proper honest helping line their life is completed when Dalits are tortured by upper class and justice denied their life is Finished!!! bitter stories of Dalits can not digest with single helpline.
