CM: We're thinking of taking back Kannada speaking regions from Maharashtra

Bengaluru, May 2 (IANS): In a strong rebuttal to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's statement, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said it was being contemplated to take back Kannada speaking regions from the neighbouring state.

Bommai said there are Kannada speaking regions in Maharashtra and it is being contemplated on how to take them back.

Pawar had stirred a controversy after he said that an agitation will be launched to include the Karnataka cities of Belagavi, and Nippani to Maharashtra.

In response, Bommai claimed that there is a political crisis in Maharashtra and the entire government is in rough waters.

The border is very clear between Karnataka and Maharashtra, he said, adding: "We will not yield to them. They also know it. They are raking it up to survive in politics."

"I strongly urge Maharashtra political leaders not to use such language for political gains," he appealed and said that there was question of giving away even an inch of land from Karnataka.

No more question of give and take since both states were formed according to the provisions of States Reorganisation Act of 1956.

Mr. CM, could you please elaborate how will you take back Kannada-speaking regions from Maharashtra? Are you going to war with them or are you going to buy those regions from them? You are a CM and not a petty politician. You should speak sense. Making retaliatory public statements against someone does not suit the post of CM.

Does Bommai think that it is easy to add Kannada-speaking regions in Maharashtra to Karnataka? Nor can Thakre think that he can take Marati-speaking regions of Karnataka to Maharashtra. These politicians have nothing to do, so they keep on boiling such issues to divert attention of people from ongoing issues they could not resolve. In the past these guys were screaming from top of their mouth in the Assembly that they would add Kasargod to Karnataka but they could not take an inch of it. Kasaragod is a dead issue now. // It’s quite common that the people of border regions to speak the language of both States, which does not mean that you have to eye on those regions. We have to take what we got when our State was formed. There are huge number of Kannada & Tulu speaking people in Bombay, can we think of making Bombay as part of Karnataka? First protect the Indian borders from China & Pakistan and then think of adding other regions. If those disputed areas are with Karnataka or Maharashtra, they are within India.

Logically Yes ..But Tuluvas are in deep slumber ..They themselves are speaking in Kannada .. at home with their children .. Even bhootas have started speaking in kannada .. Anyways a Tulu state needs to be taken taken out from karnataka as they have strategically destroyed Tulunadu and its culture
