Mangaluru: Four cattle theft accused arrested, vehicle, tools seized

Mangaluru, May 2: Police have arrested four men accused of stealing three cows from a cattle shed belonging to Mahabala Poojary, Kelagina Thokoor, Panambur police station limits. The theft was reported on April 25.

The arrested are Mohammed Ismael alias Icha, Jokatte, Sameer Jokatte, Dawood Hakim alias Dawood, Kelagina Thokoor and Mohammed Ilyas, Jokatte.

A Swift car worth Rs 3 lac used to transport the cows and tools for slaughtering the animals for meat were confiscated by the police.

The accused are residents of Jokatte, 62 Thokoor grama, Panambur police station limits. Among the accused, Dawood was staying in a house in the neighbourhood of the complainant.

Investigations have revealed that he had informed the others about the presence of cows in the house of Mahabala Poojary. The accused had hatched a plan, stolen and transported the cows, slaughtered them and sold the meat as well.

The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
