Kadaba, May 4: Prominent members of Hindu organisations visited the Immanuel A G Church in Enmaje village near Peradka of the Renjiladi village to ascertain facts if Hindus had removed the cross on the church tower and hoisted a saffron flag.
A video of some miscreants getting into the church structure, which is under renovation, had gone viral two days ago. The video also showed the removal of the cross and a saffron flag being hoisted. The footage showed miscreants destroying the door of the church entrance after getting into the place of worship besides keeping a photo of Lord Hanuman and lighting a lamp. Although no complaint had been filed with the police, it was alleged that this was an act of Hindu organisations.
Muralikrishna Hasanthadka, a Bajrang Dal leader who visited the church, has denied the role of Hindu organisations in the said act on inspecting the spot.
It is said that the church building had come up on the land belonging to Enkaje Vishwanath Gowda who had given it on rent to a member of the Christian community. However, some years ago there was some opposition to the land being used as a burial ground. Now, it is said that some outsiders of the Christian community had illegally begun constructing a church on the same land. They had also dug up the place and created a pit for converting the place into a burial ground.
Muralikrishna complained the video had been circulated in the social media to create sympathy in the minds of the people. He urged the authorities to hand over the land to its owner Vishwanath Gowda after destroying all illegal constructions failing which an agitation would be launched.
