Udupi Congress in doldrums with top leaders deciding to quit party?

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (JD)

Karkala, May 4: In another blow to the sinking ship of Udupi Congress, two more leaders of the party have now decided to file their resignation to the party. Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj and Muniyal Udaykumar Shetty, a party leader and aspirant for the Karkala Vidhana Sabha Constituency has now decided to quit the party.

Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty earlier held the positions of Udupi district Congress vice President and was a promising leader of the party in the Karkala - Hebri regions.

He was a ticket aspirant during the 2018 Vidhana Sabha election. But as former CM Veerappa Moily wanted his son to contest from Karkala the inter - party issue was dragged into streets and many protests were also held against Veerappa Moily by the Muniyal supporters. Later on, Congress gave the ticket to Gopal Bhandary from Karkala.

He also served as the vice president of Udupi district Congress, but he resigned from the position years ago.

Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty was the only choice left for the Congress in Karkala. With his exit from the party Congress has now lost the grip over Karkala constituency and left with no choice but bring an outsider for contesting elections.

Many youth leaders have also expressed their displeasure over the party's decisions. "Youths are not encouraged to come forward in the party. The age-old leaders still want to stick to the chairs", said a youth leader from Karkala in a condition of anonymity.

On the other hand former minister Pramodh Madhwaraj is also expected to exit from the party soon. After loosing the 2019 Lok Sabha election Pramod Madhwaraj started to maintain distance from the active politics. His absence was a matter of concern for the Congress party and due to this issue differences had appeared among the party workers and it was even expressed publicly.

Pramodh Madhwaraj was appointed as KPCC vice President. Even after getting a position in KPCC he has not been involved in the active politics. Recently during an encounter with the media on the question of his role as a KPCC vice president he had asserted, "The party has appointed me as KPCC vice president. But no responsibilities have been given so far."

According to top sources Pramod Madhwaraj will soon exit from the Congress party and he is expected to follow his mother's footsteps.

The news of Pramod quitting the party was making the rounds since the last MLA elections. It's now all eyes on Pramod Madhwaraj for his next move.

Jossey and also to all who are bashing these 2 individuals. Sorry its not the money here. Both have realized there is no future for the Congress party and its sinking. They have no support from the State or Central Congress. The trip by Smriti Irani to Wayanad , meeting the residents and obtaining their input on the performance of the ruling MP is very alarming to Congress. A well planned move by the Center, as it happened when the MP was balling ina Khatmandu night club. So the party leader winning again from Wayanad is a doubt.

It will be great news if Pramod Madhwaraj quits Congress. At least young leaders who are willing to toil for the party and Congress ideology, will get the chance and they can rebuild the party. But, we wish Muniyal Udaykumar Shetty will remain in Congress party.

Politicians get bored when there is no charm & no work for that matter in any party which is out of power. Its like common people without job. They get depressed over a period of time. Their followers & fans will be dwindling. Get up in the morning & do nothing . People should be busy to be active & when there is no power these leaders get fed up. Where to go what to do etc. Irrespective of parties when you are power , you have at least something to do for yourself , people or party. You can visit the assembly or parliament. People will be around looking for help, favor etc. For celebrations , house warming, birthdays, marriages people will be inviting when you are in power & when not in power these invitations will be reduced. I have seen some leaders & young aspiring leaders who have become silent when they do not have a position & place to sit. Congress leaders young & old are facing the brunt nowadays. Ball keeps rolling it can happen to any party anywhere in India or rest of the world. Power is omnipotent..

David Pais, Mangalore, Its too late bro to change the set up and induct young faces. We saw some leaders contest 6 times and lose back to back, so 30 years were wasted . Its the same oldies conducting press conferences. The content and strategies are outdated and youngsters do not relate to what they say. Any Congress leaders picks the mike its the same 'Modi/RSS/BJP' rhetorics , the people are fed up. With AAP becoming a new Pan India force with registrations open state wide., Emergence and strengthening of regional parties, Controversies by the leadership, the prospects looks very bleak.

Good riddens of bad rubbish... Congress needs new blood and not opportunists... It is an age old party and nothing is wrong with its intentions and ideologies... It is people like these who lowered its credibility and increased voter resentment... Even Mr. Rahul must take a back seat and allow non family member to take over for sometime just like Vajpayeeji made way for Advaniji to lead in 1984 when BJP was reduced to 2 seats in LS...

Congress party has allowed leaders express their opinion and freedom whereas other political parties Dictate terms to its leaders. Hence Congress leaders always want positions to prosper themselves and if any delays they change parties!!!??? If they genuinely like Congress party secular views and and administration they remain with party and power hungry leaders change party.

Pramod Madhwaraj - A power hungry politician, played dirty politics to remove Vinay Kumar Sorake from ministership during last Congress Govt. in Karnataka. After becoming the Minister, ignored party workers and concentrated to join BJP by joining hands with B. R. Shetty. Contested MP election with JDS seat by ignoring Congress. Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty : A loss for Congress, INC need to convince him to remain in the party.
