Udupi: Use speakers instead of mikes during Azaan – Raghupathi Bhat

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB/EP)

Udupi, May 6: “Singing Bhajans in front of Mosques can lead to friction. The directions of the government and the Supreme Court about Azaan need to be followed. The volume of Azaan has decreased in Udupi. It is better for all the religious places to bring down the mikes and use speaker boxes instead,” requested MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

He was reacting to a warning given to the government by Sri Ram Sene. Sri Ram Sene had warned the government that Bhajans and Hanuman Chalisa campaign will be held across the state from May 9.

“It is enough that those who come to the religious centres hear Azaan, Mantra and Bhajans instead of the entire town. There are public complaints about temples and Krishna math about the Suprabhatha. Using the sound box instead of the horn mike will solve the problem. It is better if horn mikes are banned in the state. Let us persuade the concerned if the sound volume is high,” he said.

Reacting to the statement by B L Santhosh about the novelty, he said that he is neither old nor new.

“I am the MLA in between. There are older MLAs than me. There are some in the BJP who have won five to six terms. There are always novelties in BJP. We have democracy in our party and internal discussions are held. We have the practice of collecting the opinions of people and party activists. MLAs that are with the people do not face issues but those who are away from them may face problems. Opportunities for newcomers are not new in BJP. The arrival of newcomers creates new leadership. New leadership will certainly come into the state. I was given an opportunity in 2004 though I was new. We are mentally prepared for everything. I am mentally prepared if somebody else is given an opportunity keeping me aside,” he said.

“I have worked more during 2013 when a different candidate was elected. I have retained the will to work for the party. It is the principle of our party to be mentally prepared. BJP functions as per the decisions of the party elders. We cannot say what we want or we do not want,” said MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

This is not any new practice... We are used to Azaan prayers on mikes from our childhood... That has never disturbed our daily routine... We have greater noises by crackers and religious functions in other places too... All are well accepted by our society... Why suddenly raise these issues... Mr. Bhat, please concentrate on developmental issues... Go and watch the quality of public works around Udupi city... They may not last even this coming rainy season...

After the speaker volume next they should do something about the temple bells. Sometimes the puja is in the middle of the night when others are sleeping and they keep ringing the bell as if the gods are deaf.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat...is absolutely correct. God is definitely not deaf. Use common sense people, noise pollution is a matter of serious concern.

God is not deaf we all know, God is supreme and is not like Him. Azaan is not to call God but calling every human to come and offer prayer to God who has provided you everything. Every moment of our life indebted to Him alone for water we drink, for oxygen we breath, for health He bestowed, for safely He kept us so far, for the shelter He provided, for the daily food we eat, for the family He bestowed, the list is endless. Hence to thank Him, He made compulsory 5 times prayer from early morning till we go off to bed.

What does he mean by saying, use speakers and not mikes? They are two parts of the same sound system (P.A.) Mike or microphone is the part where the input sound is picked up and speaker (box speakers or horn speakers) is the part where the amplified output sound comes out. The MLA should know these basic things before he gives out his opinion.
