'Hanuman Chalisa vs Azaan': Karnataka police on high alert

Bengaluru, May 9 (IANS): Karnataka Police is on high alert after Hindu activists launched chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa against Azaan across the state on Monday.

Sri Ram Sena founder Pramod Muthalik inaugurated the programme at a temple in Mysuru district at 5 a.m. He claimed that the chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa and 'Suprabhata' (morning) prayers were performed at more than 1,000 temples against Azaan in mosques.

The police have taken activists into custody who were all set to launch the Hanuman Chalisa chanting at a temple in Bengaluru.

It has beefed up the security throughout the state as the issue could trigger communal clashes.

Muthalik has announced that activists will intensify their prayer campaign at temples in coming days.

He had questioned the "government's helplessness to take action against Azaan, which is against the constitution and law".

"Patients, students are troubled by the Azaan offered early in the morning. Congress has made Muslims to feel that they are above the law. Congress has also created fear of Muslims. Law must be upheld and no one is above law," he claimed.

Activists started devotional prayers and raised slogans of 'Jai Sri Ram', 'Jai Hanuman' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'. They started their prayers at 5 a.m. across the state and completed at 6 a.m.

Situation in Karnataka, which was slowly coming out of the social unrest after a series of incidents following the hijab crisis, Bajrang Dal activists' murder and Hubballi communal violence, is again getting tensed.

BJP Government can't control this because Mutalik is on of their branch. This is only a drama about taking action. Nothing will happen. Hard days are ahead. We need educated and literate persons to control.s

Please come to Don Bosco Cross road and see for yourself I am not against any religion but I believe the bhajans can be stopped atleast at 10pm so that people can sleep peacefully??

Instead of trying to divide people if BJP had concentrated on developmental issues we would be a much better nation today... There is no need to do all these in the name of religious ideologies... There was a resounding public mandate with you... You will only loose it rather quickly if same ways continue to thrill you... They say government is the greatest opposition of the people who voted it to power... They have nothing but to watch helplessly for the period until next elections...

If you do it out of love for God you will get the Lord Hanumans blessings.. But if you do it as revenge for another community's prayer then you are just inviting Lord Hanumas curse and wrath on yourself... Never mock the supreme power..

If this Useless would have fought against alcohol by now thousands of Hindu women's have preserved their mangal sutra..! Imagine the life our women undergoing because of alcohol addicts etc. These are the threats we have for Hindu community not Azan or Hijab. Instead of fighting for our own issues we are fighting for useless matters. Imagine where our community have reached if there is control over selling alcohol. Instead of that we are wasting our time on things which dont even affect us in anyways. These jobless, family less hate monging creatures not only spoiling peace in the society , they also spoil future of our upcoming hindu youngsters,. They indirectly pushing them to catch cow, run behind azan, run behind hijab and finally end up in some jail. Youngsters please wake up and time to kickout these jobless creatures.

Instead of people like Fr. Stan Swamy, UAPA must be used against Pramod Muthalik. It is quite exasperating that a person like him is trying to create communal divide. If our country needs to prosper a mutual respect for people of religions should be key. Love unites, hate divides. Stern action must be taken on proven fringe elements from all religions.
