Mangaluru: Devotional songs of Koragajja during Azaan, police assure investigation

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, May 10: City did not respond much to the call given by Sri Rama Sene to play Bhajan during Azaan time in the morning from May 9. However, it is learnt that at one place devotional songs of Koragajja were played under the limits city police commissionerate.

It has come to light that devotional songs of Tulunadu deity Koragajja were played at a temporary Aiyappa devotee camp near Shivaji statue at Moodushedde village under Kavoor police station limits. The songs were played for 40 minutes from 5.10 am.

City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that no activity near the religious places of Muslims occurred in city limits. But if it is necessary, suitable action will be taken after investigation.

I think it is better that Government must supply the loudspeakers system to all religious places, and must set the sound system as per SC condition. The system should be sealed, so nobody can alter it afterwards.

Now one thing to come. Fix loudspeakers on every street light pole, and start bhajan loudly early morning from 5 to 6 o clock. So that majority of people happy.

BJP s true agenda of spill hatred, devide and rule between relegions. In our school days there is no any kind of hatred. We respect temple festival s and azan alike. Now this will done by idiot government.

The approach used Hindu organizations might be wrong and might be disturbing the communal harmony. However, the issue is real and faced by many people who stay close to places of worship. Early morning deep sleep is very important for human beings and even a minute of loud sound is enough to disturb it. I have faced trouble from both Mosques due to Azaan throughout the year and Ayyappa Bhajans during Shabarimala piligrimage season. I feel, as responsible citizens we should ask our religious places/leaders to limit the noise as per standards set by supreme court. Nobody needs Azaan/Bhajans/Bells to practice their religion in this modern digital world. The main reason for Mosques being targeted here is due to year round use of loud speakers. Whereas, majority of temples and churches use loud speakers only during major festivals or other special occasions.

Well said. Loudspeakers should be banned in all religious places. The whole point of azan is to show religious dominance...if the police cannot remove loudspeakers from mosque then they cannot question religious songs of Koragajja.

This type of tit for tat revange method will not last for long. Azan is a prayer call and not used to disturb others intentionally! For how long these Senas will wake up early in the morning to play Bhajans? One week? or two weeks? 🤭

Is such devotion pleases to God ? That too provoke in retaliation ? We dance in tune of political parties, by forgetting we need to pay heavy price in form of KARMA.

Sounds funny when report says 'The songs were played for 40 minutes from 5.10 am' but timings of Azaan is about at 4:50 am for only 3 minutes.

Not sure, what is horribly gone wrong with our country since past few years. When we were to fight unemployment, poverty, climate change, injustice and inequality, instead we are fighting on non-issues. When governance fails, every political party tries to push non-issues to divert attention. BJP gone 10times ahead and pushing non-issues, that could lead to violence.

Faithful is deaf while with God... No external noise will matter to him or her... Any prayer must be extended to God in oneness with Him... And not to intimidate/annoy other faithfuls.... Before any prayer to God it is necessary to introspect and purify our souls from wicked intentions... Otherwise that prayer will be one way traffic...
