Algiers, May 12 (IANS): Algerian Army Chief of Staff, Said Chengriha has reaffirmed to a visiting senior North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) official his country's neutral policy on international affairs, according to a statement from the Algerian Defence Ministry.
"On the international level, Algeria continues to adopt a policy of neutrality and ensures that it stands away from the tensions and polarisations opposing various parties," he said on Wednesday when receiving Hans-Werner Wiermann, Director General of the NATO International Military Staff.
"Algeria will continue cooperating with its allies and partners within the framework of its national interests and its immutable principles," Chengriha said.
On Wednesday, Weirmann kicked off a two-day working visit to Algeria, where he is due to meet with top Algerian officials, Xinhua news agency reported.
The NATO official's visit came after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Algeria on Tuesday and hailed Algiers' balanced and objective policy over the Ukraine crisis.
