TN police on lookout for killers of DMK leader

Chennai, May 14 (IANS): The Royapuram police in Chennai are on the lookout for two men -- Wasim Batch and Dilli Babu -- for the murder of a local DMK leader, Chakrapani.

According to the police, Chakrapani was killed on May 10 and his body was cut into pieces and stored in a gunny bag at a house in Grace Garden Third Street in Royapuram.

The police said that the neighbours complained after a foul smell emanated from the house of Aslam Hussaini Batch and his wife Thasneem Bhanu.

Chakrapani was running a money lending business and used to lend money to Aslam Hussaini and Thasneem Bhanu. He later developed a relationship with Thasneem.

The police said that on the fateful day, Chakrapani was at Thasneen's house when her brother Wasim Batcha reached there unexpectedly and found the two in a compromising position. In a fit of rage, Wasim killed Chakrapani and cut his body into pieces with the support of Dilli Babu and Thasneem.

The head of the body is yet to be found. Thasneem told the police that the body was cut into pieces and kept in a gunny bag to be thrown into the river and that the head was already thrown into the Cooum river in Chennai.

The police have so far arrested Aslam Hussaini and Thasneem. A hunt is on for Wasim Batch and Dilli Babu.
