Udupi: Ambulance catches fire accidentally, no casualties reported

Udupi, May 16: An ambulance caught fire accidentally due to short-circuit near Kalsanka when the vehicle was on the way from here to Manipal on Monday May 16 evening.

The ambulance was not carrying any patients.

A major fire accident was averted due to the presence of mind exhibited by social worker Krishnamurthy Acharya and the public who doused the fire immediately with the help of the fire fighting force.

The Udupi traffic police managed the situation and ensured that smooth vehicular traffic was maintained. The public were helped by the police in dousing the fire. Smooth movement of traffic was restored by the police.
