Kuwait: Team Pondichery Bags ‘Jenny Cup 2011’

Kuwait, Feb 23: The Jenny cup 2011 was held at Sabhan ground here recently. The cup was organized by Dennis Barboza, Anthony Cruza and the Modern Star boys.

Matches began early in the morning with the preliminary rounds consisting of 10 teams that participated in the tournament on a Knock-out basis. It was followed by the semi –finals and finals which was keenly fought between Cozmo and Pondichery.

Cozmo reached the finals by beating Modern Star in the semi-finals. Pondicherry reached the finals by beating Dynamites.  In the finals, Pondichery won the toss and sent the opposition in to bat. Cozmo with major contribution from all players managed to score 79 runs in the allocated 10hrs. The top scorer was Gohar-27 and Thophic- 20.

Pondichery reached the target 80 runs with the 4 balls to spare. Sadik scored 16 runs and captured 3 wickets and because of his all- round performance in the tournament, he was judged the Man of the Match and was given the award.

The chief guests were Eng Flora Sing manager of A Vandelli S R L Italy and James Paul manger of Al-Mail General Trading &Cont Co. The trophies were sponsored by James Paul and Eng Flora Singh.
They will hand over the trophies to the respective captains Sadik of Pondichery and Thophic of Cozmo X1. They were congratulated on playing good cricket.

The Jenny cup is an annual tournament organized by Denis Barboza and Modern Star boys who thanked all the teams which participated in the tournament.
