Udupi: SSLC achiever, daily wager's daughter Gayathri dreams to be cardiologist

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, May 20: Gayathri, a student of Government Girl's High School here is one among the five toppers in SSLC examination held in state recently.

Daughter of Prakash and Vasanthi Devadiga, residing in city, she hails from an economically poor background. However, that did not deter her from achieving milestones in her studies.

Gayathri dreams of becoming a cardiologist and serving the society.

Prakash Devadiga, her father is a mason by profession and her mother is a daily wager rolling beedi for their livelihood. Gayathri has an elder brother.

Speaking to Daijiworld media, Gayathri said, "I am very happy after seeing the SSLC results. I was expecting a good score in the examination but I achieved cent percent marks. I never expected this. My parents and teachers have been very supportive."

Speaking on the challenges she faced while preparing for the exams, she said, "The Hijab issue started from our Udupi Government PU college. We were given holidays for some days during the row. It was a distraction and disturbed our regular classes. However, it did not affect my studies much since I utilized those holidays and focused more on my studies.. I worked really hard without joining any private coaching classes. The Mahamaya Foundation conducted online classes for us and it helped me a lot in securing a high score."

Talking of her school, Gayathri said, "Though our school is government, it provided quality education and extended all kinds of support. I framed a time table and studied from 5 AM till evening. One of my senior students, Samatha, has been my inspiration.".

"I always wanted to become a cardiologist. Hence, I chose PCMB in PUC as a specialization.. These days, the cardiac related problems are increasing and more specialists are needed. I would like to serve the society as a cardiologist."

Congratulations. Really great.and truly god is with her. Parents always hate government institutions andthey spend lot for coaching and private institutions fee.Look like they are poor. For her studies need a lot of money. Our government should give full scholarship to such students until their completion of professional course. But our government is wasting money on floating bridges,
